Community Conduct

The Nickerson Family prides itself in providing a family-friendly community for all of its guests; where parents can relax comfortably, while their children enjoy the playgrounds, and explore the nature around them.

To maintain a pleasant environment here at Nickerson Park, we ask that all guests and visitors adhere to the following ground rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable camping experience:


Registration:
  • All guests and visitors must register at the main office upon arrival, and receive a car pass that should be hung in the front window during their stay.
  • Campers registering must be at least 21 years old.
  • One family allowed per site: A family is two adults and their children under age 21 y/o.
  • Check-Out Time is at 1:00 PM, and Check-In Time is between 3:00-8:00 PM. Please Call Ahead to see if your site is available for early Check-In. Early arrivals will be charged standard day-rate of $6/Person.
  • As a Courtesty to Other Guests, No Arrival or Setup After 8:00 PM.
Visitors:
  • Ct State law requires that All Visitors register at the lodge upon arrival, Regardless of Frequency of Visits or Event Directions.
  • Visitors who do not register at office upon arrival will be asked to leave.
  • No More than 4 Guests per Site are Permitted. For Larger Group Events, Please Contact Us to Discuss Using Pavilion or Pic-Nic Facilities.
  • Visitors must park their vehicles in the main parking lot at the lodge.
  • Visitor fees apply to anyone over 3 years old.
  • Entrance to the campground constitutes permission for Nickerson Park Family Campground to photograph or video the campers and visitors while on the premises and to use any resulting materials for any lawful purpose without compensation to the camper or visitor.
  • Nickerson Park Family Campground will not be responsible for any damage or injury caused to campers or visitors property or persons and shall not be held liable for any harm and or injury caused by campers and/or visitors use or misuse of campground propery or equipment.
Quiet Time:
  • All campers are expected to be considerate of other guests and neighbors at all times.
  • Quiet time is maintained between 10 PM and 8 AM.
  • Children ages 3-12 should be at their own sites by 10 PM unless accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Teens should be on their own sites by 11 PM.
  • Outdoor/Tent Radios, TVs, or Musical Instruments are to be kept at a Volume Restricted to the Site, and Turned Off by 10pm out of consideration for nearby guests.
  • Bicycles are not to be ridden after dark.
  • Operating Generators is Prohibited unless there is a Power Failure in the Campground, and Geenrator Use is Approved by Campground Management. Generators Should Not Be Operated During Quiet Hours.
  • To be Curteous to Neighboring Guests, Exterior Lights Must Not Be Operated in a manner that they Illunimate Others’ Windows of Sites.

Profanity in any form is prohibited. Whether Spoke, Written, or Otherwise Presented.

Alcohol and Elicit Substances:
  • Responsible alcohol consumption is permitted on camp sites.
  • Open containers are not permitted outside of camp sites.
  • Use of elicit or illegal substances is not permitted on the premises.
  • Management reserves the right to terminate tenancy of guests for behavior deemed objectionable.
Pets:
  • Nickerson Park is a Pet-Friend Campground, and allows 2 pets per site.
  • Owners must have all Rabies Certifications for pets entering the campground.
  • Pets must be on leash at all times.
  • Dogs must not be left unattended at any time.
  • Children are not to walk dogs unless accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Owners must clean up after their pets immediately.
  • Disruptive or Barking dogs will not be tolerated.
Vehicles and Bicycles:
  • Campground speed limit is 5 mph and strictly enforced for children’s safety.
  • Guest vehicles should display car passes whenever on the grounds.
  • Charging Electrical Cars, Golf Carts, or Other Equipment is Prohibited On Sites. Electric Vehicles Must be Charged Using the Electric Charging Station.
  • Driving or Parking on surface other than the roads or parking lots, such as the lawns, is strictly prohibited.
  • All Bicycles, E-Bikes, Electric Scooters, or Similar Transportation are subject to the 5 mph speed limit.
  • Anyone Found Riding Bicycles or Other Transportaiton in a Reckless or Speeding Manner Will Not Be Permitted to Use Such Equipment Within the Campground.
  • Goft-Carts, Dirt-Bikes, Gas-Powered Bicylces, and Similar Items are NOT permitted to be used within the campground.
  • For their own safety, and due to poor visibility, children are not permitted to operate battery powered cars or electric ride-on vehicles within the campground.
Fires and Firewood:
  • Campers Cannot Transport Firewood into CT Campgrounds. Due to Threat of the Asian Long Horned Beetle, Emrald Ash Borer, and Dutch Elm Disease [CT- DEEP USDA-Forest Service]. In Compliance with CT-DEEP and USDA, Nickerson Park Family Campground has a Zero-Tolerance Policy Related to Outside Firewood Entering Our Premises.
  • Due to the threat of invasive species, the State of Connecticut mandates that NO OUTSIDE FIREWOOD MAY BE BROUGHT ONTO THE PREMISES. We have firewood avialable for pruchase, and appologize for any inconvenience.
  • Fire allows inside of provided rings only, and Fire Rings are not to be moved.
  • DO NOT BURN TRASH or LEAVES, or Leave Trash or Garbage in Fireplace.
  • Fires must not be left unattended for any reason.
  • Damaging any Trees or Shrubs for any Reason is Strictly Prohibited and Will Not Be Tolerated for Any Reason.
  • Harming or Harassing Wildlife is Strictly Prohibited and Will Not Be Tolerated for Any Reason.

Firework and Firearm use is prohibited, as is the use of Bows and Arrows.

Cleanliness and Trash:
  • Site cleanliness is expected at all times.
  • Dumpsters are provided for House-Hold Trash Only.
  • Chemicals, auto parts, or any large items are not allowed in or around the dumpsters.
  • Restroom Facilities Should Not be Used for Washing Laundry or Dishes.
  • Wastewater Must Not Be Emptired on Ground. This applies to Black-Water and Gray-Water Services.
Site Maintenance:
  • Use of Nails, Hangers, Fasteners, Ropes, or Other Objects affixed to trees is strictly prohibited, and will be removed by management.
  • No storage sheds or porches allowed without prior permission from management.
  • No washing or repairing automobiles or recreational equipment allowed.
  • Do Not Use RV Washing Machines, as On-Site Septic System May Not Handle the Added Volume of Wastewater. Please Use Campground Laundry Facilities.

As Nickerson Park is a private campground, the management of Nickerson Park Family Campground reserves the right to terminate the tenancy of any camper or visitor without notice, for any reason, and without refund or compensation.
